One simple and powerful way of making a substantial charitable gift to Lutheran Homes Society is to name LHS Foundation as a beneficiary of your will or estate plan. LHS relies heavily on bequest gifts to sustain its daily operations, add new and needed ministries, and provide necessary programs and services to the children, youth, and many elders we serve.
Simply designate LHS Foundation as the beneficiary of your bequest. LHS Foundation is solely responsible for attracting, receiving, acknowledging, stewarding, and distributing charitable gift proceeds according to donor wishes in support of Lutheran Homes Society. Each year the LHS Board of Directors determines the best way that bequests are distributed to benefit all the ministries of the Society.
Sample language may state that “ I hereby designate LHS Foundation, 2021 N. McCord Road, Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio, 43615, to receive on behalf of Lutheran Homes Society $_______ or _____% of my estate, whichever is larger to be used as LHS best determines to sustain and grow the mission and ministries serving the children, youth, and older adults in its care.”
You may also designate your gift in support of a specific subsidiary ministry, special purpose fund, program, or the general endowment.
Please contact LHS Foundation staff at 419-861-4965 for assistance in crafting your bequest intention or to schedule a personal visit to discuss proper bequest language as it relates to your personal giving interests and the Society’s organizational needs, including the E.I.N. number. We also welcome calls from your attorney who may be helping you write your will.
