Helen Panning Fellowship

LHS Foundation's Annual Giving Fellowship

The Helen Panning Fellowship was founded to recognize the dedication of a very special group of individual, congregational, corporate, and foundation donors who have made charitable gifts to the unrestricted LHS Annual Fund or to other areas of on-going support of Lutheran Homes Society. They all share a desire and commitment to see LHS strengthen its mission and ministries throughout northwestern Ohio and southeastern Michigan.

Named in honor of Sister Helen Panning, the Lutheran deaconess who served the Home for the Aged in Toledo from 1916 through 1955–her entire thirty-nine year career–this Fellowship is meant to thank those members of the LHS community who make annual charitable gifts in support of daily operations and special ministries of Lutheran Homes Society. By becoming a member of the Helen Panning Fellowship, you set an important example that will encourage giving by other prospective individual donors, as well as companies and foundations.

You are invited to join the growing number of donors who actively support the vital mission and caring ministries of Lutheran Homes Society. Gifts to the unrestricted LHS Annual Fund are especially needed and warmly welcomed as they help underwrite daily operations and fund essential programs and services. These include: nursing care equipment, independent living assistance, staff salaries, building maintenance; special Family and Youth programs (such as the Asperger's program at the Maumee Youth Center for Asperger's Disorder, the five group home settings for children aged 6 to 18+, and the specialized care and treatment of severely emotionally disturbed (SED) children and youth); and vital community services to seniors through the Lutheran Interfaith Network of Caring Services (LINCS). If you choose to give to another area of LHS, we encourage you to consider giving at least a portion of your gift to the unrestricted LHS Annual Fund.

Annual Fund gifts may also be designated in support of the general endowment or a specific program or ministry. Several special funds exist that allow you to help underwrite critical areas of need throughout LHS. These include the Vision Investment Fund, the Capital Improvement Fund, the Ministry Development Fund, the Mission Integration Fund, the Debt Retirement Fund, the Resident Assistance Fund, and the Operational Reserve Fund.

Members of the Helen Panning Fellowship receive the LHS Friend newsletter, are invited to attend the annual Celebration of God's Gifts Luncheon, and are listed in the annual Donor Celebration List.
