Low to Moderate Income Apartments
Since 1981, Lutheran Homes Society's Lutheran Housing Services has provided well-maintained, clean and affordable housing for the elderly. Independent Living Apartments are located throughout northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan. Many of the units are federally subsidized which means that residents pay 30% of their adjusted income for rent. Rent includes all utilities, except telephone and cable. Some communities were built using tax credits, which also keeps the cost of housing affordable.
Social, religious, and special activity programs are the focal point of each independent living environment. Pictured at left, a health fair held at Luther Haus, attracts community members and residents alike for free health screenings. At each of the communities, a social services coordinator is on site to help residents with tasks such as procuring meals, home healthcare, and housekeeping - all of which help in maintaining one’s independence.
