“God calls His people to be responsible stewards of the blessings He has entrusted to them. LHS Foundation exists to faithfully gather, protect, invest, and disburse the gifts God's people share with the caring ministries of Lutheran Homes Society.”

The guiding purpose of LHS Foundation is to support Lutheran Homes Society's Christian mission, caring ministries, and strategic organizational development by strengthening its long-term relationships with current and prospective donors, including families of residents, board members, management and staff, volunteers, corporations, foundations, governmental agencies, member and covenant member congregations, and our many community friends. This will be accomplished by promoting, cultivating, encouraging, soliciting, and stewarding charitable gifting through a comprehensive program of constituency communication, individual donor visitation, special on-site and regional events, and substantive volunteer leadership opportunities that may include service on Lutheran Homes Society's Board of Directors and subsidiary ministry boards.

A systematic process of donor identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship will focus on attracting charitable gifts in support of the LHS Annual Fund, subsidiary ministries, capital projects, resident financial aid, enhanced technology, specialized ministries, outreach programs, and general endowment.

Expanding the current donor base is essential to the success of the ministry advancement program and to the continued growth of Lutheran Homes Society. To accomplish this goal, LHS Foundation will focus its friend-raising and fund-raising efforts on: (1) communicating the mission and needs of LHS to all constituent donor groups and (2) increasing the number of new, annual fund, major gift, and planned gift donors.
